Hooray for Maine lobster shack season!

Easter is over and it’s time to look forward to warmer days, brighter evenings and the opening of Maine’s beloved lobster shacks. If you love lobster and live in New England you may already be planning your first lobster shack pilgrimage of the year. Below are the 2018 opening dates for some of the best lobster shacks in Maine. 2018 Maine Lobster Shack Opening Dates

SOUTHERN MAINE

The Clam Shack, Kennebunkport, Maine. The Clam Shack opening date is May 13th,  Mothers Day weekend.  They then typically remain open for long weekends through Memorial Day when they switched to their summer hours. The Lobster Shack at Two Lights, Cape Elizabeth, Maine.  This is always one of the first lobster shacks to throw open its doors to lobster lovers each year. The Lobster Shack at Two Lights has been open since March 31st 2018. Harraseeket Lunch and Lobster, South Freeport, Maine.  Harraseeket Lunch and Lobster are opening on April 28th 2018.  This lobster shack offers ocean views, alfresco dining and freshly delivered lobster.  They offer a variety of lobster dishes, including lobster rolls and lobster dinners, along with homemade desserts, including whoopie pies.  To read more about Harraseeket Lunch and Lobster, click here. MIDCOAST MAINE

Red’s Eats, Wiscasset, Maine.  Reds Eats will open on April 16th 2018. Reds is more of a roadside hut than a shack and,  as with The Clam Shack, it doesn’t offer ocean views but it does deliver one of the most famous lobster rolls on the coast of Maine. Five Islands Lobster Co., Georgetown, Maine. Five Islands Lobster Co’s opening date is May 12th. They will operate a weekends-only schedule with a limited menu (lobster, steamed clams, corn, potatoes, lobster rolls, onion rings and chowder) until June 23rd when they switched to summer hours. Five Islands is possibly the most picturesque place to enjoy a lobster dinner in the rough.  Roll up your sleeves and enjoy the 360-degree views of the ocean and five islands of Sheepscot Bay as you tuck into boiled lobster dinners or lobster rolls on picnic tables lining the pier. Estes Lobster House, Harpswell Neck, Maine. Estes Lobster House are aiming to open their lobster shack on May 24th. DOWNEAST MAINE

Thurston’s Lobster Pound, Bernard, Maine. Thurston’s Lobster Pound are opening on May 25th 2018.  They offer a good variety of lobster entrees, from lobster rolls and shore dinners to lobster dip, lobster stew and lobster BLTs.
